2nd Battalion is the highest combat unit within the Regiment. It is currently comprised of two Companies that perform different roles and have different Military Occupational Specialties (MOS). The Battalion has two companies with distinct responsibilities. Alpha Company is organic to the Battalion and Hotel Company is attached from a fictional unit for organizational purposes and structure. 2nd Battalion is the Higher Headquarters for both Companies.

Alpha Company is a Light Infantry Ranger Company. Comprised of 11B Infantrymen the Company's primary tasks are airborne and air assault operations, force reconnaissance, long-range patrols, hostage rescue, counter terrorism, and special operations. All Alpha Company Rangers are Airborne and Air Assault qualified, remaining flexible in both roles. Alpha Company primarily operates as Infantry in rifle squads with a functional weapon squad providing heavy weapons support. Logistical support is provided by Hotel Company in the form of transportation, resupply, reconnaissance, and close air support. Trained to operate in a modern combat environment, Alpha Company is capable of responding to a myriad of threats and enemy force compositions.
