The S-2 Intelligence Section is responsible for all aspects of operation planning and intelligence analysis. S-2 Intelligence personnel are chiefly responsible for ensuring that the battalion enters combat fully capable and understanding of their mission, along with any possible constraints and enemy force compositions the S-2 Intelligence also handle ensuring the leadership of the ground and air elements are adequately prepared for engagements.
Mission
In the 2nd Ranger Battalion, S-2 Intelligence is chiefly responsible for creating new storylines and providing details to the operations beforehand in the form of briefings and OPORDS. They also task analysts to form World News posts and paint a picture of the environment the battalion operates in. Zeus Gamemasters and Roleplayers both work together in tandem to improve the experience of the soldiers on the grounds and pilots in the air.

Military Intelligence analysts and officers are responsible for creating, preparing and overseeing a Campaign, and all of the Operations involved. This full time combat MOS has soldiers acting as Zeus Gamemasters or Roleplayers to provide the best military realism experience for the Regiment. Outside of Operations, Military Intelligence soldiers create documentation, images, World News, and other supporting material for our Campaigns. Military Intelligence dictates the flow and arc of our Campaigns and game-play within the 2nd Ranger Battalion. |

The S-2 Intelligence Officer is in charge of the S-2 Intelligence Section. He ensures deployment story-lines are planned, the enemy forces are tallied, intelligence packets are created, etc. During deployment, the S-2 Officer will serve as the OPFOR Strategic Commander as a Zeus Gamemaster, additionally. This position is a primary duty position within the unit and is usually held by a Major. Anyone outside of this ranking guideline is authorized to fill the position in an acting capacity at the direction of Command Staff.
S-2 Intelligence Chief (SSG)
The Intelligence Chief is responsible for assisting the intelligence officer with his duties. This position is usually held by a Staff Sergeant or higher.
S-2 Zeus Gamemaster (SGT)
The Zeus Gamemaster is tasked with tactically applying the OPFOR to a mission/training/operation in accordance with the Zeus Guidelines at the direction of the S-2 Intelligence Officer. This position is a primary duty position within the unit and is usually held by a Sergeant. Anyone outside of this ranking guideline is authorized to fill the position in an acting capacity at the direction of Command Staff.
S-2 Roleplayer (PFC)
The Roleplayer is a active participate to the Campaign Operation as a combatant or non-combatant. Roleplayers are under the supervision of the Intelligence Officer and or Zeus Gamemasters who direct and advise the flow of the mission. They are divided into skill categories based on experience and performance dictating what actions they can preform during roleplay. This position is held usually by a Private First Class or higher.

The Intelligence Analyst generate any necessary story-line/intelligence to facilitate unit operations at the direction of the S-2 Intelligence Officer. Intelligence Analysts are responsible for posting updated World News inside of the unit Discord. They also interpret, assess, and process any intelligence gathered operationally by the unit. S-2 Intelligence is the only Staff Section with both in-game and out of game positions. The in-game positions are listed above and refereed to as Combat Positions (billets), since they are full time assignments during Operations. Intelligence Officer, Zeus Gamemaster and Roleplayer are all combat positions. The Intelligence Chief can be either a billeted Zeus Gamemaster OR filled as a normal Staff Section role by a qualified solider.
