Reporting Units

The S-1 Personnel Staff Section is responsible for all force structure, manpower, personnel, and administration requirements for the Regiment. The branch provides recommendations to command staff in resourcing current manpower requirements and in determining future organizational structure. S-1 also advises and assists command staff in the management of personnel, personnel replacements, discipline, morale and welfare by developing personnel and administrative programs, policies, and procedures to support the commander's goals and objectives.

Mission

In the 2nd Ranger Battalion, S-1 is similarly responsible for the administration of personnel. Material contributions are in record keeping, organization and policy. Unique to our virtual community, S-1 also has responsibility for the visual representation of each solider as a unique individual, through standards conformant avatars and signatures. S-1 is divided into four sub-departments: Personnel, Awards & Decorations, Recruitment, Retention.

The Personnel sub-department process official personnel requests and maintains the entry of records and awards for all PERSCOM. The Awards & Decorations sub-department maintains the uniforms and standards of their display. The Recruitment sub-department oversees the intake and processing of new applicants into the unit. The Retention sub-department manages all personnel within the two primary statuses, active and reserve, and ensures a point of contact is established.

Staff Section Positions

S-1 Personnel is structured with specific positions that include all levels of world building and game making that is necessary for deployments and operations.

S-1 Personnel Officer (1LT)

The S-1 Personnel Officer is in charge of overseeing the entirety of the S-1 Section. All S-1 personnel report to him, and he reports directly to Battalion HQ. He is responsible for ensuring that all his subordinate S-1 personnel have everything they need logistically to complete their support functions. This position is usually held by a First Lieutenant or higher.

S-1 Personnel Chief (SSG)

The Personnel Chief is responsible for assisting the Personnel Officer with his duties. The Promotion Eligibility List (PEL) is generated by the Personnel Chief. He is also responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the S-1 Section. This position is held usually by a Staff Sergeant or higher.

S-1 Awards and Decorations Chief (SGT)

The Awards and Decorations Chief is the senior Awards and Decorations Personnel Clerk and is tasked with providing all the logistical needs required by his subordinates to complete their assigned duties. This position is usually held by a Sergeant or higher. This positions report directly to the Personnel Officer and Chief.

S-1 Recruiting Detachment Chief (SGT)

The Recruiting Detachment Chief is the senior individual in charge of the intake portion of the recruiting section. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the joining process. This position is usually held by a Sergeant or higher. This positions report directly to the Personnel Officer and Chief.

S-1 Retention Chief (SGT)

The Retention Chief maintains the bridge between Active Duty, Training Platoon Transfer Platoon, and Reserve Platoon. The Retention Chief perform activity checks and contact previous members about reenlistment. They also make recommendations for the administrative movements between personnel for retention purposes. This position is usually held by a Sergeant or higher. This positions report directly to the Personnel Officer and Chief.

S-1 Personnel Clerk (General) (SPC)

The Personnel Clerk(s) perform all duties pertaining to the tracking of unit members. This consists of maintaining the unit master roster on PERSCOM, processing training and operations reports, processing transfers and resignations, etc. This position is held usually by a Specialist or higher. These positions report directly to the Personnel Chief.

S-1 Personnel Clerk (Awards and Decorations) (PFC)

The Awards and Decorations Personnel Clerks(s) perform all duties pertaining to the tracking and issuing of awards and decorations as authorized by Battalion HQ and Command Staff. They track personnel, update PERSCOM uniforms, create new awards as requested, etc. This position is held usually by a Private First Class or higher. These positions report directly to the Awards and Decorations Chief.

S-1 Recruit Processor (PFC)

The Recruit Processor(s) process all incoming applicants into the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. Their duties include but are not limited to entry level screening, S-1 Flagging, Acceptance or Denial of applicant's, Etc. This position is held usually by a Private First Class or higher. These positions report directly to the Recruiting Detachment Chief.
